Royal Wedding or Spectacle - You Decide...

I got up at the crack of dawn to see the royal spectacle wedding. Well, I didn't actually get up. I woke up and rolled over and turned the volume up on the tv. I woke up late too, so I missed the very beginning of the coverage. I'm pretty sure I didn't miss anything important.I was awake so early  because I wanted to compare the coverage of the wedding of  Will and Kate, with the coverage of Chuck and Diana's nuptials.

Alright, I don't actually remember enough details from all those years ago to compare. But here's what I saw this morning that I took note of.

As Kate rode in the car with her Dad to Westminster Abbey, I noticed that she waved to the spectators.
There were trees inside Westminster Abbey.
I'm not sure if Kate's sister Phillipa,  acted as maid of honor or attendant to the bride She did not stand next to Kate during the ceremony as Harry did for Will.
During the ceremony, neither Kate nor Will shed a single tear. None that I could see anyway.
Will had to pretty much jam the ring onto Kate's finger.
There was no kiss after "husband and wife".
I am so happy both Kate and Phillipa had their shoulders covered.
It seemed to me like no one at their church knows the hymns either.
James Middleton surely practised his scripture reading.

I have some more I'll add to this later... I just have to go to work now.

Thursday Theme Song for Arbor Day - Let It Grow...

button
Today I'm celebrating Arbor Day. I haven't planted a tree but a garden. I've got cool weather crops growing in my tiny garden: lettuce, peas, broccoli, brussel sprouts and some beets and onions. I plan on expanding my garden a lot this year. Last summer I planted a bunch of tomatoes and green beans kinda late, but my plants produced well into the fall. I understand Arbor Day isn't until tomorrow and traditionally one plants a tree. However, I have plenty of trees in my yard but I still want to celebrate the very admirable concept of planting. So this afternoon I did just that. Here's my Thursday Theme Song to commemorate this occasion.

"Let It Grow"  - 461 Ocean Boulevard
Eric Clapton - July 1974 (I was 12)

Here's my tray of plants.

Here's my teeny garden, unprepared for what lies ahead.

Here's my teeny garden after I prepared and planted it.

Here's a closer look at my teeny plants.
Awhile back, I blasted some fertilizer onto my garden and worked it in.I'm going to let them get established and fertilize them again in about 10 days. I'll use about a third of a cup around each plant and  fertilize again every 3-4 weeks until I harvest.
I used  Espoma Garden-tone, it's about as organic as you can get.
Since all these plants are cool weather crops, I plan on growing them up, harvesting them, eating them and replacing them with crops that do well in hot weather and bright sunlight.

Tow Truck Drivers are Cool...

My neighbors car just came home on a flatbed. By backing up and turning around, operating the levers and disengaging the safety devices, the tow trucker driver was able to roll the car into precisely the place the my neighbor indicated. It took longer for my neighbor to tell him where to put it, than for him to actually place it there.
That makes him cool.

Let's Have a Round of Applause for....

Quilly!

It's her birthday today!
Happy Birthday to my dear friend!

blue sky scrubs - one stop shopping for comfortable work wear...

Manda has been working in a hospital for some time now. I know she likes her job and that she hates the uniform she wears. She isn't required to wear medical scrubs, but she does because they are supposed to be loose and comfortable. She tells me the one thing her scrubs aren't is comfortable. She says they are tight where they should be loose and too loose where they should fit close.

Yesterday Manda dragged Colleen off to the scrub store. Colleen said they shopped each and every rack to no avail. They ran into the same problems Manda has with the scrubs she has now. One of the sales ladies asked if she could help. The girls described the problem and the sales lady asked if Manda had considered buying scrubs online.

The sales lady discussed one of  the problems with buying scrubs: different manufacturers use different patterns and sizing charts. The nice lady directed Manda to a website where, not only the colors and fabrics are displayed, but size charts are available as well. One can also order custom made scrubs. After thanking the nice lady, Manda and Colleen rushed home to check out the website.

I'm happy to report that Manda has ordered some scrubs that she is confident will fit properly, be comfortable and made with good fabrics right here in the good old USA. If you are a nurse, or work in a hospital, you may want to check out blue sky scrubs yourself.

Musical Monday...

What gets you moving on Monday? Or any other day for that matter? Amanda over at Bloggin' with Amanda hosts this meme. Dance on over there and check out her musica and that of all the other players!

Today I chose the studio version of  "The Song Remains the Same", from the album Houses of the Holy. It was released in 1973 when I was 11 years old. I had three older brothers and an older sister, so I was exposed to lots of stuff I probably shouldn't have been. But Led Zepplin was not one of them.
One time, my brother Bruce and his friend Dave, took me out for the day. They sat me on a milk crate between the seats in the van. I'm pretty sure they played Houses of the Holy on an 8-track.
At excessively high  decibels. I was sold at once.
Thank you Bruce and Dave...
