Fresh dry harvested berries, in season (in Carver anyway) now...Berries harvested using the dry pick method are sold in bags, in the produce department or at farmers markets. Around here they are popular and will keep in a fridge for about 3 months.
These berries have been harvested by flooding the bog with water, and then using a funky machine to gently slap the berries off the vine. Once floating, the berries are corralled and pumped into a truck and shipped to the screenhouses for sorting.
I found this fella hanging out by the edge of the bog.
The farmer uses this contraption to pump the berries off the bog and into the truck.
I like this snapshot because it shows swirls of color.
The light and shadow of this snapshot is interesting.
Cranberry bogs are so beautiful. We have lots in the Pinebarrens of NJ.
