Flash Fiction 55...

Late at night, I find it difficult to sleep. I don’t toss and turn, because I don’t actually go to bed.
I just sit up, tired, but awake.
In the afternoon, I could fall asleep in a second. I don’t even have to be tired. I fall asleep in the chair.
What’s up with that?

  1. I can totally relate to your 55. Sleep comes when you least wish for it and fades away when you need it the most

  3. I can relate to this. :) I sometimes fall asleep in my books in the afternoon... But at night it can be almost impossible to fall asleep. Maybe it is because of my book naps? ;)
    Liked your 55 a lot! Love/ Jo.

  7. Nothing wrong with that. I think sleep just gets in the way of having fun! Gone for a poem this week based on the Etheree form created about twenty years ago by an Arkansas poet named Etheree Taylor Armstrong It normally consists of ten lines of unmetered and unrhymed verse, the first line having one syllable, each succeeding line adding a syllable. I added an extra row for the word count and the punch line. See what I mean here.

  8. At one point my mother had to go on pain meds for the after effects of an operation. Suddenly she stopped having the sleep pattern you describe. Turns out her strange insomnia traced to low levels of pain she hadn't even been aware of until then.

  9. Suddenly I lose all energy at about 4 p.m. and have to force myself to move to stay awake. I could so lay down and nap for hours -- but then I would be up all night!
