Skywatch Friday - Another Cool Spot...

Skies from all over our planet!

This is Union Church. It was built in 1855 and I've heard it could be our county's first non-denominational church. I love this church for different reasons. I love the Gothic architecture and that the church has no running water or electricity.

One of my favorite things about Union Church is the graveyard. The memorials in the churchyard date back as far as the church and there are some very recent graves too. But to me, the best thing is that the churchyard is very park-like. There are great shade trees and old stone walls. The narrow roadways throughout are not paved. Walking through Union Cemetery gives me a sense of time and timeless-ness. The place seems very familiar and comforting, and I know it hasn't changed much in the last 155 years.
